Non Governmental Organisation (NGO)  were first called such in Article 71 in the Charter of the newly formed United Nations in 1945. NGO is generally considered to be any non-state, nonprofit and voluntary organization. NGOs can be defined as “legally constituted corporations created by natural or legal people that operate independently from any form of government. NGOs play a critical part in developing society, improving communities and promoting citizen participation. They can work to promote social or political change on a broad scale or very locally.
In Himachal Pradesh there are 12 districts. Environment is very essential in every aspect of life. NGOs make significant contributions to diverse areas. These organizations are brimming with a crowd that has devoted its entire life solely to the environmental causes. The ways in which these organizations act are not only theoretical but interestingly practical. Environmental NGOs can play a crucial role in helping to plug gaps by conducting research to facilitate policy development, building institutional capacity and facilitating independent dialogue with civil society to help people live more sustainable lifestyles.
